The Porsche Boxster have been about since the 1997 model year, also it took 21 years ahead of the valuation on a trashed one sank to levels good for the car\’s appearance in self-service wrecking yards. The BMW Z3 can be a year or two before the Boxster (I saw my first junkyard example a few years back) as well as the Mazda RX-8 (likewise), we haven\’t yet choose a Honda S2000 somewhere like that. It will happen, though- it always happens, eventually.
So much engine-swap potential here! Photo by Murilee Martin
I found this car in a very big Denver-area high-inventory-turnover yard, but it hadn't been discovered with the local Porsche fanatics yet; by now, I'm sure remember that it is picked right down to the molecular level. Spec Boxster mankind has an insatiable hunger for parts from the fragile, complex machines, therefore the eBay resellers grab everything possible from the car in this way. The 201-horsepower boxer six made by this car can be merely the thing to swap into, say, a Renault Caravelle. Of course, the powertrain in this car posseses an excellent prospects for being DOA, since there's no obvious crash damage, but yards in this way charge a level several hundred bucks for any complete engine less for a transmission.
Still the right stuff in here. Photo by Murilee Martin
It was simply just a little on the decade ago that you'd see the occasional 911 in yards like this— parts-grade 911s count far too much to the today— however i think it will have a gradually increasing count of discarded Boxsters for a long time.
